Poster

For our poster we are going to make we have looked at a range of film posters of which we believe are successful and have picked out points from posters we believe influence us most.

Star Wars: Episode 1
All the star wars posters follow the same general rule where the lead character will be in focus on the front and then secondary characters follow suit towards the back. The main evil character will be in large at the back as well. This part is what influences us most where we think it will be a good idea to have our Main protagonist at the front, and our doner/magic helper will be at the back (the blue man)


The Hangover
This poster follows general codes and conventions too. It contains the movie tag line and will also contain some information on the makers, if they are already made by another movie. It also has the main protagonists in centre frame, which instantly shows the audience that these will be the people they will be following in the film. The Block at the bottom is also what we will be taking example from with the layout of out poster.




Magazine
Looking at a few film magazines such as Empire, Film and Sky Movies we decided that if we were going to write our film review then wed have to have a large double page spread, generally filled with pictures. Also the language will be rather informal, as if talking to the reader as a friend.
The layout of our magazine will bi similar to Empire mainly. A large picture will take up about half the article and the rest will have the review. Side bits such as directors quotes and facts will be dotted over the picture.

Podcast Week 20/11/09

Beginning Audience Feedback

This is the beginning of our film. Bare in mind we plan on adding more titles at the beginning of it, and music has to be played to it.
.

Good so far, edited well. Sound needs to be cut out at times and music needs to be put in where it needs to be.

More titles need to be on before credits(Going to be done anyway) And should stick with the theme of the title font. Nice idea of going to have a ticking noise with the title which extends onto the scene

Can clealry see influence from Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead openings.

Podcast Week 13/11/09

This is our podcast of our second week of pre-production.

Ancillery Tasks

As part of our coursework, we have to include two ancillary texts.
For our coursework we have chosen to do:
a poster for the film
and
a film magazine review page featuring the film


Our poster for the film will be mostly done on Adobe Photoshop Elements. It will be similar to our teaser poster, but much more fulfilling as it is a normal poster, not teaser. 
Our Film magazine will be done in Office Publisher as this is great for using graphics alongside text.

Updates (23/11/09): Filming of getting ready scene will now be done afternoon Tuesday. The location has also changed to Ben Gibsons house.

Podcast Week 1

This week we talk about the pre-production tasks we have completed, adn also our narrative of our film.

Genre Research

The genre we want to look into is Thriller/Comedy, (comedy but with a bit of a serious side/weirdness to it) will look into books and also previous films of the same genre.
Family Guy - Seth Macfarlane- 2003 to Present 
Robot Chicken - Adult Swim - 2007 to Present 

After watching these two shows(of similar creators[Seth green is the man behind Robot Chicken but also stars in Family Guy as Chris Griffin, and Seth Macfarlane will also take part in Robot Chicken at times e.g. P.S I love You S4EP1]) we noticed that random actions add good comedy effect e.g. Random man on fire come on screen screaming for a split second.
Having distorted physics also tends to make things more of a comedic value as well e.g. in Family Guy when people fall off something, they will hit the floor instantly, with a loud thud.

Donnie Darko - Richard Kelly - 2001 
This film has a few elements we would like to take into our film.
The film is based around the main protagonist (Donnie Darko) seeing an invisible character, but is seen by him and no one else. This invisible character also has a disturbing/weird look to it which can cause unease in a way to the audience.
Camera shots in this film portray the attitude and atmosphere of the main protagonist very well which we feel would work rather well in our film as well.



Half Life 1 and Half Life 2 (VideoGame) - Valve - 1999/2004

This videogame influenced one of our Main Protagonists because a character that features completes a similar position in the story. The character known as 'G Man' looks like a normal person, in a business suit, however is invisible to everyone but the main protagonist. G Man's role is to watch over the main character and protect him, but also watch over him to see if he is worthy. This is the role our 'Blue Man' will have.






Lost - JJ Abrhams - 2006 - present
We have looked into this Tv Show as it uses falshbacks to explain the story and exposition of characters often. Therefore we will take into account these when creating our flashback. For example, we like the sound that is used to translate from flashback and real world.
